June 21, 2006
This time, our best practice is our own. Starting in June, our survey — The Pulse of Guelph — is being taken door to door by volunteers throughout the city all summer and into September.
The goal is to hear what citizens have to say and encourage them to vote in the November 13 election.
Questions on the survey deal with environmental protection, Guelph's downtown, heritage preservation, water, city services, the ward system, and planning for the future. Volunteers will also ask what you think are the most important issues facing Guelph, and whether you think the present city council has done a good job.
As neighbourhoods are surveyed and opinions gathered, we will be issuing regular press releases and making the data available on our website and through the Better Ways e-bulletin.
Learn more about the Pulse of Guelph in an interview with GCL President, James Gordon that appeared in the Guelph Tribune.
The survey “is really engaging and empowering people to feel they can make a difference.”
If more people vote and do so in an informed way, "it will be a better representation of the way a majority of our citizens are feeling about the city." - James Gordon, GCL
Each One Reach One
The other major GCL initiative launched this month is the Each One Reach One campaign. Our key goal this year is to encourage citizens to vote in the November 13th city election, because when leaders are elected by a meaningful majority, quality rises and our city benefits.
